I want to write a children's book, and I want to get it published. I've been researching my options and I've found out that I need to stay away from "vanity" companies, and POD's? And that I need to find a reputable publishing company. I've been having trouble trying to find any of these, so anyone with any advice would be appreciated!I want to write and publish a children's book. Does anyone know of any REPUTABLE publishing companies?

The very best place to find publishers is "writers market".
That's a book you can get off amazon, or sometimes the local library.
Or just go to the local library and book store, write down some publisher names from books on the shelf, then go to their website and look up their submission guidlines.
Theres also Preditors and Editors which will weed out the bad publishers and tell you why they have issues.
Vanity presses are bad because they make you pay them for doing the work in publishing, then instead of giving you the book and it belonging to you they then make you pay them royalties on every copy. If you want to go self publish it's better to go with something like Lulu.com where you can publish it and pay for it at a low price, then you can sell your book yourself and they don't interfear.I want to write and publish a children's book. The major companies are all reputable.
Ex- Scholastic, Random House, Hachette, Pengiun, ect. If you go to a bookstore and look who has things published, it will show you who is reputable
Check out http://www.writersandartists.co.uk/ for reputable publishers and agents.
