I want to send my book to two publishing companies at once to increase the chances of the book getting published sooner. Is this wise?Is it wise to send a book to two publishing companies at once?
Whoa, Mason. Unless a publisher's submission guidelines says they accept unsolicited (un-asked for) manuscripts, you don't ever send the manuscript itself. You send a one-page query letter.
It's normal to send multiple query letters, unless a publisher insists on exclusive queries. (Few do.)
You will find that not many publishers deal directly with authors. Most of the ones you've heard of use literary agents as go-betweens. If you write to such a publisher directly, your query (or your manuscript) will be discarded unread.
Writing the book is only the *start* of the work, huh?
To get an agent you need to identify the ones who have sold books like yours in the last two or three years. Go to a book store and jot down titles, authors, and publishers of the books that would be your book's direct competition if it were in stores today. Get online to determine the agents who brokered those deals. That's your A-list.Is it wise to send a book to two publishing companies at once?
U cant send ur book to publishers, u have to have an agent and the agent will contact the publishing companies. The only publishers that will accept ur book is the really small ones that if they do accept u, u wont get may readers. I highly suggest getting an agent. But if u really really really really dont want to then i wuld say just do one cuz if both accept u there culd b problems. But really thinj about getting an agent. Good Luck
EDIT: If you want an agent google publishing agents and look through the diff companies and see which one u like best. Contact them. U might have to have a query letter first tho. If u dont know what that is, go here: http://www.charlottedillon.com/query.htm鈥?/a>
Remember use Google! It knows everything!!!!!!Is it wise to send a book to two publishing companies at once?
Yes, it gives you more of a chance. As hard as it is, your story has 9/10 chance of not being read, but it is definitely not impossible, just write and write, make it better. J.K.Rowling was said no to 13 times, before her book was finally published, aren't them publishers sorry now! :)
Yes, I would send it to multiple but you book most likley will not be looked at unless you have an agent
