Hey guys, I'm 16 years old and have recently completed my own novel that I've been working on for two years. I really am in love with my manuscript and want to get it published but need some advice on which publishing company to go with? I don't want to end up spending a whole lot of money but I just was interested in past experiences people have had with certain companies. Thanks! What are some of the best publishing companies if one wants to publish a novel?
Hey, congrats! Not everyone has the courage to face the publishing industry even if their literature is highly recommended for public consumption. Because you already have your materials, the next thing you might decide on doing is to find a publisher who will be your retailer, publisher, editor and distributor at the same time - which is of course not that easy to find.
Maybe you would like to ask around and perhaps shop around. Many would also suggest getting an agent which could take SO long for them to sit down and actually notice what you have there and believe me, we are not just talking months here but years.
When I meet an author with a great book concept, one who鈥檚 definitely the right person to write that book, right away I鈥檒l often encourage him or her to self-publish. This is because I know that an author is thoroughly invested in what they have to say. Your publisher can help you determine the genre if you like. And this is your book - no one should tell you what to do.
I hope this helps :)What are some of the best publishing companies if one wants to publish a novel?
Set your search engine for Preditors and Editors (P%26amp;E). They list and rate literary agents and publishers. They also have links to sites for advice on how to write a query letter, etc. Be careful about paying to have your book published or for an agent. Legitimate agents don't charge, but most of them only take on published authors. And, major publishing houses insist on your having an agent. To get around that delimma you either find an agent willing to take on a new author or go to an independent publisher. You can find both on P%26amp;E. Vanity publishers will print whatever you're willing to pay them to print, but they won't promote it. You wind up selling a few copies to family and friends, then have a closet full of books. Be sure your manuscript is nearly perfect in spelling and grammar. If an agent or publisher is interested, listen to their feedback. You have to be patient and willing to take criticism. Good luck. What are some of the best publishing companies if one wants to publish a novel?
You're not quite ready. You have completed the first draft of your novel. I guarantee it can be improved, even if it's quite good now.
Real publishers don't involve spending any money at all. Any publisher who asks for money is a vanity press and will not place your books in stores, where most sales happen.
The best publishing companies are the ones who have books in stores. Visit one and go to where the books in your novel's genre are shelved. Who published them?
