Publishing companies?

i have written a short story/ novella that still needs some editing. but, after I'm done editing i was wondering where/what publishing companies to send it to. help?Publishing companies?

See if there is a local publishing company in your area. Colleges and universties also have publishing houses on campus. They help those who are just breaking into the business. When I went to college, I volunteered at Cleveland State University Press as an contributing editor. They helped local writers get their foot in the door by publishing almost everything.



Other than that, you will have to find a connection in New York. That city is the publishing capital. My advice to you is to start small, then work your way up. You need to build a foundation. When bigger publishing companies see that you started out from the bottom up, they will take your work seriously.
