Will this make me liable for a lawsuit from publishing companies?

I'm currently in the process of putting a charity website that aims to promote reading in Filipino communities. One of the site's features is that members can download any ebook for a very low price compared to the average selling price. Will this make me liable for a lawsuit from publishing companies? Is this illegal? This is strictly a non-profit organization. The money collected will be used to cover operating costs and to set up scholarships, public school grants, etc. Will this make me liable for a lawsuit from publishing companies?
Yes, you have to have permission and a license to sale/resale things..... even e-books... You cant just will nilly do it because it is helping a good cause. That is extremely unfair to the person producing the works..... same prinicpal as online music burning for free.

Get permission or you can get sued and loose everyhting and more from the cause your trying so hard to work for.... There are proper and legal ways of doing things. Will this make me liable for a lawsuit from publishing companies?
If you don't have the blessing from whomever holds the copyright, you may be liable for infringement, etc., etc.

You should talk to an attorney if you are serious about this. Will this make me liable for a lawsuit from publishing companies?
I would think it would be - unless you go through them. It is possible you can contact the company that published it and work something out with them... but you need to CYA first.
