Any good publishing companies available?

I am really interested in becoming an author and poet, already i have three poems of my own published but i would like to find better ways to get my work out there where i can earn instead of the company taking my credit as has happen with my published poetry.Any good publishing companies available?
The best way to get your writing out there in order to eventually get yourself an agent and a publisher is to send your writing to magazines. There are plenty of great poetry magazines, as well as magazines solely for prose in which you can send either extracts of a novel or short stories. The best thing I can recommend is to buy yourself a copy of The Writer's Handbook 2011, this has listings of all the information you need to know. You pick the magazines that your writing is best suited to then you send 3-5 poems or 1-2 short stories/prose extract with a covering letter. In the letter you put a short biographic description of yourself, including where your previous writing has been published. You also need to write a small introduction and summary of the pieces you have included. Sadly, as a writer, you are unlikely to get all the money you are due. The magazines rarely pay, but you need to get your writing noticed before an agent will except you to try and get you a book deal, at which point your agent will take a cut of your money, as well as the publisher.
