I like writing stories but they're PG-13 and R books and I don't know any publishing companies. Oh, I'm 12 so... can I even get my book published? Is there any publishing company that publishes kid authors writing teen novels?
You would have to go through a regular publishing company. it's extremely rare that someone your age will posses the skill to write a full length novel; it can happen, but it's the exception rather than the standard. If your novel is original and very well written then you can very well get it published. You will need to find an agent and query them regarding your novel. If you get rejected my most, or all, agents then you can look into publishing companies. What kind of novel have you written? Agents don't represent all genre and all publishers don't publish all genres of books. You'll need to go to an agency's or publisher's website and read their submissions page. This will tell you what type of books they represent/publish. If your book is one of those genre's (sci-fi, fantasy, chic lit, young adult, thriller, etc.) then you can follow their guidelines and submit to them. Only submit to those that represent the type of work you're writing. Make sure your parents approve because they'll need to sign any contracts for you since you're a minor.
Google for the Association of Author's Representatives and it has a database of literary agents/agencies. You can go to those websites and see what type of work they represent. You should never pay an upfront fee to an agent. if an agent tries to charge a fee then it could be that they're a scam artist. Agents get paid when they sell your book to a publisher and they take their money out of the check the publisher sends and then they send you the rest.
Also look up Writers Beware - it's a website about the types of literary scams you can encounter and how to avoid them.
http://www.absolutewriters.com - has a forum where you can communicate with other aspiring and published writers and get help and feedback with your work. There are also teen members and one or two has a book published.
Good luck.Is there any publishing company that publishes kid authors writing teen novels?
Well, you can try, but be warned that your writing ability isn't very advanced. No matter how good the story line, or how flawless your grammar, the basic point is that unless you have a Bachelor's in English the techniques that make a story something to be published will not be there. Sorry :(
I'm 13, and I love to write, but I know that if I published or tried to publish a book, it would be considered a kid's book, and with my story lines that's hardly appropriate. But keep writing, and one day we can both pick up our original ideas and possibly rewrite them and release bestsellers :)
Be patient! We can both get there eventually.
(Not to mention, if you got an R-rated book published, would your parents approve? Mine wouldn't... :D)Is there any publishing company that publishes kid authors writing teen novels?
I believe that if it is well written, it can be published. But you may want to write under a pen name because a lot of adults probably would get thrown off by the phrase, "book by a 12 year old".
you can get you book published the yougest age is 6 years old
