Do Editors for Publishing Companies also Edit Punctuation if Needed or just Plot/Content?

it's rare for an editor to edit for punctuation these days. That is a minimum requirement for being a writer, and they will go with a writer who knows how to write instead of someone who wants the editor to do it for them. If the story/book/project is exceptional, an editor may make an exception, but that is what it would be -- an exception.

As a book editor, I would say yes...to a certain extent. If there are just a few changes needing to be made, I will make them. If, however, it becomes clear that the author is close to totally clueless about punctuation, I will conclude that this author is not ready for the so-called big time...and send the book back to him/her.
