I have these publishing companies call on the phone asking for me claiming that i have ordered and owe for pub

i have these publishing companies call on the phone asking for me, claiming that i have ordered and owe for publishing our company listing on the internet. when i ask for an invoice or contract either they say i must agree to pay for the invoice before it is sent or they claim a verbal agreement on the said contract. plus they claim the order was placed a year ago and i must pay them to cancel any future billings? how is this legal and what are my rights?I have these publishing companies call on the phone asking for me claiming that i have ordered and owe for pub
This has to be a scam. Don't pay it and block their phone number (if you don't have call block, contact your phone company and this feature); a legit company then has no alternative other than to send you a notice in writing. Get the name of the company and file a report with the Better Business Bureau. (www.bbb.org).

You are not required to pay/or agree to pay an invoice before they send you a copy; if they cannot prove that you ordered the service and you are not required to pay for it. Any legitimate company will be more than happy to provide proof of a bill, as if it ever progressed to a lawsuit, they would need to be able to prove due diligence was met in a Court of Law.

While some companies that are legitimate that you sign an actual contract with can charge a termination fee or percentage for an early termination, it has to be specifically stated in a signed contract (most common area where this applies is cell phone contracts).I have these publishing companies call on the phone asking for me claiming that i have ordered and owe for pub
Don't believe it. If they can't provide you some kind of paper work describing in detail of any products ordered then they are just lying to get money out of you.I have these publishing companies call on the phone asking for me claiming that i have ordered and owe for pub
It is not legal. If you haven't , get the name of the company and report them to the police. One of two things is going on either your identity has been stolen or the company is committing fraud. Another thing to do is to retain an attorney as sometimes it can get quite messy dealing with people like that and an attorney is a good scare tactic. Whatever you do, do not pay them a penny!
take note, tell them to send you the information, then you have somebody you complain about.....
