Ive written a book, but all publishing companies require you to pay upfront to have it PUBLISHED??!!?

are there any publishing companies (im not talking about the online ones im talking about the ones that will print and market your book if they like it) that dont charge to publish??Ive written a book, but all publishing companies require you to pay upfront to have it PUBLISHED??!!?
Of course. The ones that charge to publish are called vanity presses and you don't want to use them.

Many small publishers still deal directly with the author. Once you have a completed, polished manuscript, you can figure out if you should seek a big "name brand" publisher, in which case you need an agent, or if a small publisher will do just fine.

You can find publishers in the most recent edition of Writer’s Market (US) or Writers and Artists Yearbook (UK). Each listing will indicate “agented submissions only” or not.

Remember, reputable agents charge the author NOTHING up-front. Some agents may deduct the costs of doing business (copies, mail, phone) from your first check, but nobody legitimate needs that in order to get started.

You can determine whether an agent is reputable at sites like Preditors and Editors (http://www.invirtuo.cc/prededitors/) and the AAR (http://www.aar-online.org/mc/page.do). Besides being a real agent and not a scammer preying on writers’ dreams, you also want to research an agent’s recent sales of books in your genre before sending a query letter.

Researching whether a publisher is the real deal is easier. Go to a bookstore. See any of their books? Good. No? If it’s a small press, it might still be legitimate. The biggie is that no publisher needs money from the author. None at all. Any publisher who does is cause to run the other way.Ive written a book, but all publishing companies require you to pay upfront to have it PUBLISHED??!!?
No reputable publishing company is going to ask for money up front. This is a sign of a scam. Publishers should make their money by selling your book. Ask your local library for a copy of "Writer's Market." It has a listing of publishers and what they look for and tips on getting published from reputable publishers and experienced authors.Ive written a book, but all publishing companies require you to pay upfront to have it PUBLISHED??!!?
No, not all. If you don't need to sell many copies, try PublishAmerica.com. Everything done on line and fairly easily, but don't expect bookstores to be happy to see it. Been there, done that. The book looks very nice, though--professional layout and nice artwork. You'd better be a pretty good proofreader yourself. the contract says you will have an editor--you won't, but you'll get some proofing not of the best, and you'll be in print. The format is trade paperback.
Please before you use PublishAmerica do a yahoo or google search on it first. I think you will enough complaints to make you not want to ever use them if you want something other than a vanity publisher.
