What are most publishing companies looking for at this time?

Traditional publishers just don't know a good thing when they see one. Not all traditional publishers actually made the BEST decision when it comes to choosing books. Do you know that several best selling authors have been turned down by publishers? Stephen King, author of Gone with The Wind and Chicken Soup have been rejected by publishers and were not even given the second glance.

When I meet an author with a great book concept, one who鈥檚 definitely the right person to write that book, right away I鈥檒l often encourage him or her to self-publish. This is because I know that an author is thoroughly invested in what they have to say. Your publisher can help you determine the genre if you like.

Self-publishing entirely means that you get to retain full control of your book鈥檚 production and that it gives you the option to publish your work and claim authority of the photos that you have chosen to be published.

I wish you luck! Helps to collect these information before you get to decide. :)What are most publishing companies looking for at this time?
I'd suggest you visit some literary agents and publishers blogs. If you can find one blog then that person usually links to their publishing and agent friends, so to speak. I've read many blogs where an agent will post what s/he heard from different publishers about what they're looking for. But, remember that trends change. What's hot today might change tomorrow. Publishing is very unpredictable. Just write what you write and if it's unique, original, and well written enough then it will be published. If it's not the right time then you should be busy writing your next novel, but don't worry too much about trends because they change.

Also, consider this: when something is hot then everyone and their mama is trying to write it, so the competition is high and your if you're writing the same thing then your novel has to offer something the other hundred or so novels don't offer. It's the same with novels that aren't so hot. For instance, I've heard sci-fi isn't that hot right now, so to break into that field your novel has to offer something really unique that other sci-fi novels don't.

High quality writing and a great story.

Trends change faster than most change their underwear so what people are interested in reading now will change by the time a book written today is published a year or so later.
